CState Recovery Community

About Our Community

The CState Recovery Community is a unique collegiate recovery program founded using harm reduction principles. We are proudly an Institutional Community College Member of the Association of Recovery in Higher Education.

Students can feel comfortable with our team meeting them where they are, in whatever stage of change, regardless of treatment or recovery goals. We hope our community enhances a sense of belonging on campus for students needing support, struggling with mental health, problem behaviors, or substance misuse not supported by other campus resources. CSRC is connected to the Counseling Center and partners with related academic programs and majors, such as Addiction Studies, Human & Social Services, and Social & Behavioral Sciences.

What to Expect

The program will approach recovery in a broad, holistic, and compassionate sense that addresses the needs of as many students as possible. Students can attend weekly meetings providing support with the ability to schedule individually with a clinician, peer supporter, or community resource specialist. Depending on the topic, groups and activities will be facilitated by volunteers, Counseling Center clinicians, peer support, or faculty and staff managers. Students will be directly connected to the Counseling Center upon request while utilizing the community.

Services Provided

CSRC services are coordinated by Addiction Studies and Human and Social Service instructor, Holly Stoddard. Peer support is supervised by Counseling Center Triage Coordinator, Eric Smith. The services include an Ohio-Certified Peer Support Specialist, who also works as the Community Resource Specialist. Students will also be directly connected to Counseling Center clinicians for clinical services. Volunteers, coordinators, and clinicians will hold psychoeducation groups. Students can be connected to needed academic resources, community resources, group peer support, prevention activities and outreach, and individual peer support.
