Real Estate program hosted career exploration event with support from local professionals
Cincinnati State’s Real Estate Certificate program, in collaboration with the College’s Career Center, hosted a “Real Estate Meet & Greet” on November 1, 2023.
Over 30 participating students gained insights about the path to becoming a realtor while interacting with local real estate brokers, other industry professionals, and faculty members.
Colleen Meyer, Program Chair for the Real Estate Certificate, said the event provided an environment “where students and brokers could engage in meaningful conversations and establish invaluable connections.”
Colleen said feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
- A student commented: “The event was really informative, and I feel a lot more comfortable going into real estate. The people were very friendly and I am excited to get started!”
- A real estate professional said: “I look forward to being one of the brokers you reach out to for future events like this one, so I can talk with more students about not giving up, and how having a supportive team like Cincinnati State does in fact pay off.”
Meyer said the students were able to make direct industry connections, and the brokers had the chance to meet potential future realtors for their companies.
She added, “Our Real Estate instructors played a pivotal role in advertising the event and preparing students to make the most of this unique opportunity.”
In addition, representatives from the Business Management and Finance degrees explained how the 30 credit hours required for the Real Estate Certificate are embedded in these degrees, giving students pathways to other credentials while meeting academic requirements needed to take the State of Ohio Broker’s License Exam.
“Education isn’t limited to classrooms,” Meyer said. “It’s also about connections and experiences we can provide through collaborative efforts like this event.”
