Graphic Design students are winners of national poster competition
Posters by Cincinnati State Graphic Design students Yulia Wimp and Amanda Phillips were selected as winners in the 2024 Student Design Contests sponsored by the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF).
Yulia’s poster was the winning entry for full-time college students, and Amanda’s poster won the competition for part-time college students.
Over 200 entries were received from college and high school students throughout the U.S. The posters had to use a theme related to printed communications, such as “Print is Provocative” and “Print is Spicy.”
In a news release from PGSF, Yulia said, “I am incredibly honored and humbled to have won the PGSF College Full-Time Poster Contest. This special recognition and scholarship have encouraged and inspired me to continue pursuing a career in graphic design and creating work that makes a difference.”
Both winners received a $500 scholarship, and their posters will be distributed and displayed at schools, trade shows, and other venues throughout the U.S. to promote the scholarships PGSF provides to students who are pursuing a degree and career in the graphic communication industry.
Graphic Design Program Chair Kathy Freed said many Cincinnati State students have received PGSF scholarships in the past.
“We display the PGSF posters on campus every year, so it will be exciting to see posters featuring design work created by our own students,” Freed said.
