Dr. Myshamil Walker received award from Ohio Transfer Council

Dr. Myshamil Walker (on right in photo), Director of the Cincinnati State Transfer Center, received the Tom Vandermeulen Award presented by the Ohio Transfer Council at their 2024 Conference held in Columbus on June 14, 2024.

  • The Ohio Transfer Council is an organization “committed to the enhancement and facilitation of transfer for students between and among its member institutions” by providing resources and opportunities for networking and professional development.
  • The Vandermeulen Award recognizes “contributions that have led to the enhancement of relations among people of diverse cultures, ethnic groups, first-generation college students, or students with special needs.”

Dr. Walker’s award nomination said (in part), “Throughout her distinguished career, Dr. Walker has been a steadfast advocate for inclusivity, empathy, and understanding. Her leadership and commitment to diversity have inspired countless individuals and transformed the lives of those around her. From her pioneering research to her mentorship and advocacy, Dr. Walker has consistently championed the importance of embracing diversity as a cornerstone of a vibrant and inclusive society.”

The nomination also stated, “Through her initiatives, collaborations, and community outreach efforts, Dr. Walker has created spaces where individuals from all backgrounds feel valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.”

Dr. Walker thanked Geoff Woolf, Dean of Humanities & Sciences, “for just allowing me to do me,” and thanked Transfer Center team member Betty Richard, “who always has my back.”
