Cincy State student receives LULAC scholarship
Cincinnati State representatives including President Monica Posey celebrated with scholarship recipient Obet Orsorio Cruz during the 15th annual scholarship event hosted by LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) Cincinnati on Oct. 1, 2020.
This year’s scholarship awards event was conducted remotely on Facebook and Zoom.
Obet, who is majoring in Computer Programming, was one of 40 students from colleges and universities throughout Greater Cincinnati who received a LULAC scholarship for 2020.
Recently retired Professor Rosa-Maria Moreno serves as the LULAC Cincinnati Education Director.
Other College representatives at the virtual event were Dr. Sandra Dees and recently retired Professor Samuel Rowe.
To maintain the LULAC scholarship, recipients must complete at least 5 hours of volunteer work at Hispanic/Latino organizations in the area, such as Su Casa Hispanic Center, Santa Maria Community Services, English Language Learners Foundation, the Hispanic Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, and others.
