Overview

The Virtual Design and Construction Certificate assists construction professionals who want to upgrade their skills. The certificate also prepares new students for entry-level jobs in the field of virtual and computer aided design (CAD).

Coursework includes skills in computer-aided architectural drafting, plan reading for residential and commercial buildings, and virtual design methods used in construction.

All of the certificate courses also apply to the associate’s degree program Civil Engineering Technologies-Architectural Major.

Graduate Employment Outlook

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that employment of draftspersons will decrease slightly through 2032; however, more than 16,000 openings are projected each year, on average, as a result of the need to replace workers who transfer to other occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire. Employment of civil engineering technicians is projected to remain steady.
