Cincinnati State students named to All-Ohio academic teams
Two students from Cincinnati State have been named to the 2014 All-Ohio academic teams organized by
the Ohio Association of Community Colleges.
Hira Ahmad, a student at Cincinnati State’s Middletown campus, was named to the OACC All-
Ohio First Team. She is one of 10 community college students in Ohio to receive such an honor.
Hira was born and raised in Pakistan, one of six children raised by a single mother. After earning
her high school diploma and bachelor’s degree in Pakistan, Hira came to the United States. After
graduating this summer from Cincinnati State with an associate degree, she plans to continue her
education with the goal of becoming a pharmacist.
Theodore (Teddy) McCreadie, a student at Cincinnati State’s main campus in Clifton, was one
of 41 community college students selected to the OACC’s All-Ohio Third Team.
Teddy, the father of two children, is a first generation college student. He will graduate with an
associate degree in Business Management and Accounting Technology, and plans then to
pursue a bachelor’s degree in accounting and organizational leadership. He has been active
outside the classroom, working as a Student Ambassador in the Office of Admission, Surge
Leader for the Advising and Counseling Center, and in the Office of the Registrar; he has also
been active in the Cincinnati State Honors Program and the Cincinnati State chapter of Phi Theta
Kappa.
The All-Ohio Academic Team program provides statewide recognition and scholarships to outstanding
students at Ohio’s 23 community colleges. Since it began in 1997, more than $250,000 in scholarships
has been awarded to hundreds of outstanding two-year college students.
The All-Ohio Academic Team program is co-sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, the international honors
society for two-year colleges, and its Ohio Region. Funding has been made possible through the support
of donors such as Honda of America Mfg., Inc.
To be eligible for the All-Ohio Academic Team, students must be nominated by their college president.
Nominees must be eligible to graduate during the current academic year and have a cumulative grade-
point average of at least 3.25. Winners are selected on the basis of academic performance,
demonstration of leadership, and community service involvement.
A luncheon to honor the 2014 All-Ohio Academic Team was held April 30 in the Ohio Statehouse Atrium.
