Cincinnati State to host Legislative Luncheon June 6 in Middletown

Cincinnati State will host its third annual Legislative Luncheon on Friday, June 6 at its Middletown campus location.

The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the campus building at 1 North Main Street, Middletown 45042.
Legislators and staff members from Ohio House and Ohio Senate districts in Butler, Clermont, Hamilton,
Montgomery and Warren counties have been invited to the event. They will meet with Cincinnati State
administrators, trustees, faculty and staff to discuss issues involving higher education in general as well
as those specific to Cincinnati State and its Middletown campus.

Among the items tentatively on the agenda for discussion with legislators:

  • The recent decision by the Ohio Board of Regents to expand Cincinnati State’s service area to include all of Butler County, as well as Hamilton County. The action gives the college the exclusive authority to offer for-credit community college courses in Butler County, which did not have a community college presence of its own until Cincinnati State opened its Middletown campus in August of 2012.
  • Cincinnati State’s recently-adopted Completion Plan, mandated by the state, which lays out specific strategies for improving graduation rates and reducing the time it takes students to complete certificate, associate degree and other programs.
  • Choose Ohio First Scholarships and their importance to community college students.
  • Updates regarding the Middletown campus, including a partnership with Butler Tech, the Ohio

Board of Regents co-operative education grant, and Cincinnati State’s Workforce Development
Center partnerships in Butler County.
