Cincinnati State to host Summer Leadership Summit this week
Cincinnati State is hosting a three day Summer Leadership Summit this week designed to bolster the skills of high school students and help craft approaches for reducing the number of teen dropouts.
The Summit is unusual in that it will be heavily student-focused, involving many of the students from Upward Bound, Gear Up and Project Grad programs who are spending their summer at Cincinnati State in a variety of day programs for college-bound high school students.
The keynote speaker for the first day of the conference will be State Sen. Eric Kearney, who is scheduled to take the podium at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 21 in the auditorium of the Advanced Technology & Learning Center.
The conference will include presentations on the procedures for public discussions (such as public debate strategies and techniques, Roberts Rules of Order, and the importance of setting goals), as well as a forum for discussions of ways to reduce the dropout rate.
