Cincinnati State to announce new endowed scholarship fund that will help address regional shortage of firefighters, EMTs and paramedics
On Monday, June 25, 2018, Cincinnati State President Dr. Monica Posey will be joined by Madeira & Indian Hill Fire Chief Stephen Ashbrock and donor Harold Thomas to announce the establishment of the Stephen M. Ashbrock Fire and EMS Endowed Scholarship Fund.
The press conference takes place from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on the Cincinnati State Clifton Campus in Room 101, the Fire/EMS Training Center, accessible through the garage doors from College Drive.
Our region is facing an impending critical shortage of firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics. Proceeds from this new $300,000-plus fund will help individuals who might not otherwise be able to pursue these professions to get an education and serve our community.
Speakers at the press conference will include:
- Dr. Monica Posey, president of Cincinnati State
- Chief Stephen Ashbrock, chief of the Madeira & Indian Hill Joint Fire District
- Harold Thomas, whose generous gift will establish the new fund
- Michael Haunert, CEO of Sysco Cincinnati and chair of the Cincinnati State Foundation
Limited parking for media will be available on College Drive.
