Local media highlighted Cincinnati State’s 2024 enrollment growth

The Cincinnati Enquirer and other local media have noted that Fall Semester enrollment at Cincinnati State is “up and growing” compared to a decade ago, and that the College is one of only six Ohio community colleges to see an increase in enrollment since 2019.

The article published Aug. 22, 2024, at Cincinnati.com (and in the print edition of the Enquirer on Sunday, Aug. 25) pointed out that Cincinnati State’s fall enrollment has grown by 33% compared to 2019, while total enrollment statewide at Ohio’s 23 community colleges has declined by 16% during that same time period.

As of the morning of Monday, Aug. 26, nearly 9,400 students were registered for Fall classes, a headcount increase of 14% compared to Fall 2023. Credit hours enrollment (how many classes students are taking) also increased by more than 10% compared to the previous year.

In the Enquirer article, President Monica Posey stated “People are recognizing the value [of attending Cincinnati State]. They’re concerned about costs and how you can get an education that’s affordable but then also will lead to great employment.”

Director of Admissions Audrey Woods said Welcome Days for new students greeted large numbers of participants this year, with a total of about 750 attendees at the three Welcome Days held in August 2024.
