Overview

The Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant Certificate 1 meets the educational requirements for the State of Ohio Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant Preliminary credential (CDCA PRE). Coursework includes cultural competence, causes of drug abuse, prevention of drug abuse, early intervention, and treatment programs.

After successfully completing the CDCA1 Certificate, students should apply for their CDCA PRE credential before starting additional courses in Addiction Studies (ADC) or Human & Social Services (HSV). Students must hold their CDCA PRE for a minimum of 10 months, but no more than 13 months, before applying for the Ohio CDCA Renewable credential.
