Police Chief Robinson honored in “Black is Excellence” campaign

Cincinnati State’s Director of Public Safety and Interim Police Chief, Donna Robinson, is one of 15 Cincinnati “Black is Excellence” award recipients for 2024, and she is featured on a banner that is on display in downtown Cincinnati throughout the month of June.

Chief Robinson was interviewed on Lincoln Ware’s “Cincinnati Issues” TV broadcast that aired on June 16, 2024, on Star 64 TV, where she discussed her work at Cincinnati State and in the community.

Another 2024 Black is Excellence award recipient is Barbara Turner, a past member of the Cincinnati State Board of Trustees and current CEO of BT RISE, an organization that champions the economic empowerment of underserved women and people of color through advocacy and action.

The Black Is Excellence campaign, sponsored by Fifth Third Bank and the City of Cincinnati Office of Human Relations, aims to acknowledge and promote diversity, inclusion, and representation, and to celebrate the achievements of Cincinnati’s African Americans.

Campaign founder and community activist Kai Stoudemire-Williams said Black is Excellence is “committed to honoring local hometown heroes who are actively creating spaces for future generations to thrive.”

The Black is Excellence campaign also is sharing information on LED screens at Fountain Square, the Cincinnati Convention Center, and other Cincinnati locations.
