Accounting faculty hosted “CPA Camp” for high school students
In partnership with the Ohio Society of CPAs and Procter & Gamble, Cincinnati State hosted a Careers in Professional Accounting (CPA) Camp to give high school and college students a day-long, all-expenses paid opportunity to explore careers in the accounting field.
Students participating in the June 20, 2024 program represented Mason, Walnut Hills, and Withrow high schools, along with college students from Northern Kentucky University and Cincinnati State. Eight students were awarded scholarships during the event.
Accounting faculty members Donna VonDeylen and Dr. Stani Kantcheva led some of the activities. “We were excited to support the next generation of accounting professionals,” Dr. Kantcheva said.
The Careers in Professional Accounting Camp is specifically designed for underrepresented students who want to explore accounting and business careers. According to the Ohio Society of CPAs, the innovative career development program aims to inspire and educate about opportunities in the accounting profession, by highlighting how the field can offer career stability, high salaries, and meaningful work.
