Speakers Bureau provides support for the community

The recently-launched Cincinnati State Speakers Bureau provides experts from the College’s faculty, staff, and alumni to support businesses, schools, churches, civic organizations, and others in the Greater Cincinnati community looking for a resource for presentations, workshops, and other events.

The Speakers Bureau page of the College website includes the current list of available speakers and topics, and FAQs for organizations that are seeking a speaker.

The Speakers Bureau was developed by Dr. Leesha Thrower, Department Chair for Communication and Theater Arts, as a sabbatical project with a goal of expanding the ways in which Cincinnati State provides service to the community.

Dr. Thrower said initial users of the Speakers Bureau have offered positive responses. Organizations that have used the service have described the College speakers as “enthusiastic,” “engaging,” “interactive,” “relatable,” “informative,” and “great,” and said the Cincinnati State speakers “presented different perspectives,” and “imparted wisdom and knowledge without being overbearing.”

Organizations that use the Speakers Bureau do not pay a set fee, but are encouraged to make a contribution to the College’s Community Impact Scholarship, which provides assistance for new and returning students.

Organizations that want to use the Speakers Bureau should start by filling out the Request A Speaker form on the website.
