Overview
The Human and Social Services, Addiction major program at Cincinnati State prepares graduates for employment in a variety of human services, social services, and behavioral health settings, with a focus on chemical dependency treatment.
Graduates of the program earn an Associate of Applied Science degree, and obtain the education required to apply for multiple credentials through the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals (CDP) Board.
The Ohio CDP Board application process requires earning passing grades in all relevant coursework, including mandatory practicum experience. In addition, those seeking credentialing must submit an official transcript, complete the required field experience hours, and complete other steps outlined on the Ohio CDP Board website: https://ocdp.ohio.gov.

Graduates Are Prepared To
- Perform treatment planning, assessment, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, case management and education services as they relate to abuse of and dependency on alcohol and other drugs.
- Provide treatment services identified and listed in the Ohio Administrative Code as they relate to abuse of and dependency on alcohol and other drugs.
- Refer individuals with non-chemical dependency conditions to appropriate sources of help.
