Cincinnati State and community partners hosted “Scrubs Camp” for high school students
Cincinnati State hosted “Scrubs Camp 2023” during the week of May 15-19, providing an opportunity for 50 high school students to explore career opportunities in healthcare and public safety fields.
The program was a collaborative effort that included Cincinnati State, The Health Collaborative, Great Oaks, Southwest Ohio College Tech Prep, and UC Health: West Chester Hospital.

During Scrubs Camp, 50 juniors from Scarlet Oaks learned through lectures and demonstrations, and also practiced hands-on skills in labs (including the College’s new Health Simulation Lab) with guidance from Cincinnati State faculty and staff members.
Campers also spent a day job-shadowing at West Chester Hospital, where they experienced the world of work and met with healthcare professionals on the job.
On the final day, each camper and their parent or guardian attended a closing luncheon where the students spoke about their experiences during the week and received a certificate of participation.
