150+ people from the deaf and interpreting communities are signed up to attend a free Deaf Health Fair at Cincinnati State tomorrow, September 12 beginning at 10:00 AM
 
Cincinnati State has one of a few interpreter training programs in the state of Ohio.  Program Chair, Dawn Caudill said that Cincinnati State wants to hold the free Health Fair at the college this Saturday, and every year after, to benefit the deaf community and their families. In recognition of this event, Mayor John Cranley has issued a proclamation recognizing this event and naming Saturday, September 12 as Deaf Awareness Day in Cincinnati. 
The program is the following:
 
10 am, ATLC Auditorium
Welcome address by Co-chairs Steve Bright and Tony Merchinsky,  instructors in the Interpreter training program; presentation of the Mayor’s proclamation, introduction of workshops and presenters
 
11 am – 12pm, Workshops
            “ADA rights and advocacy – What to do if your rights are not being met or if they are violated” (CSD local community leaders Elizabeth Whelpdale and Mary Kay Studer)
 
            “Everyday Breathing techniques and other copikng techniques to reduce stress and promote a positive attitude” (Betsy Heithaus and Abbey Weaver)
 
 1:30 – 2:30 pm 
“Healthy food and a healthy lifestyle” (Jeff Carroll)
 
            “Financial Freedom: Living within your means” (Sheri Barksdale and Jenna Scheetz)
 
            “Diabetes 101: Prevention of Type 2 Diabetes and diabetes care (Barb Koehler -Certified Diabetes educator)
